DCSO: 19-year-old arrested after more than 1 year on the run, faces numerous charges related to sexual assault

DaQwuan Vasaad Vinson

A 19-year-old who had been on the run since February 2022 was arrested Wednesday, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect is facing numerous charges of sexual abuse, rape, and sodomy.

According to a release, at approximately 1:45 p.m. DCSO detectives and a Kentucky State Police detective responded to a Crime Stoppers tip that resulted in the arrest of DaQwuan Vasaad Vinson, of the 6700 block of Leslie Lane. According to the release, Vinson has been able to evade capture on multiple previous attempts to arrest him due to help from others. 

From the Crime Stoppers tip, detectives were advised Vinson would be located at a residence in the 6800 block of Thoma Drive. Vinson was located hiding in a false wall area inside a residence, according to DCSO. 

Vinson was transported and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center. DCSO listed the following offenses for Vinson:

  • Failure to Appear (on the charges of)
    • Rape, 1st Degree
    • Sodomy, 2nd Degree
  • Failure to Appear (on the charge of)
    • Theft by Unlawful Taking from a Building
  • Warrant of Arrest (on the charge of)
    • Fleeing or Evading Police, 2nd Degree
  • Failure to Appear (on the charge of)
    • Assault, 2nd Degree
  • Failure to Appear (on the charges of)
    • Sexual Abuse, 1st Degree
    • Rape, 1st Degree (2 counts)
    • Sodomy, 1st Degree (4 counts)
  • Warrant of Arrest (on the charge of)
    • Burglary, 2nd Degree
