The Mattingly Target Shooting Range at Pup Creek Park will open for the season this Friday. This is a shotgun-only facility, with no ranges for pistols, archery, or rifles available.
The Parks Department will offer skeet, trap, and a 14-station sporting clays course with opportunities for beginners and advanced shooters. There is also 12-gauge shotgun ammunition available for purchase, but those rounds should be used on site.
Initially, hours will be:
- Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On March 17, Friday hours will shift to 12-6 p.m.
Established in 1967 as the Daviess County Gun Club, the shooting sports complex is located at 7740 HWY 2830 in Maceo. The 76.28-acre property is located near Pup Creek, approximately 7 miles east of Downtown Owensboro.
