The H.L. Neblett Community Center, Owensboro SportsCenter, and Daviess County Middle School have been approved by the state to serve as polling locations for the May primary. As the election approaches, County Clerk Leslie McCarty said her office is also seeking volunteers for poll workers.
McCarty said that Secretary of State Michael Adams recently approved Daviess County’s plans for the May 16 primary.
After receiving some complaints about locations in the 2022 General Election, McCarty said her office immediately began conversations with community advocates and officials at the proposed locations to find a remedy.
According to McCarty, SportsCenter officials have already promised to reserve the facility on election days to allow for voting for the next 5 years. The Neblett Center was added to have another voting location on the west side of the county, while DCMS will serve as a replacement for Highlands Elementary School.
McCarty said that anyone willing to volunteer as a poll worker can reach out to her office at 270-685-8434 to learn more.
“We always need more volunteers, especially now that we added two more locations,” she said.
