The Owensboro Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place early Monday morning at a home near the intersection of East 27th Street and J.R. Miller Boulevard. One person had non-life-threatening injuries and nearby property was damaged by seven bullets, according to OPD.

According to an OPD report, the shooting occurred at approximately 2:46 a.m. at a residence on Southwood Avenue, which is a short roadway that connects to East 27th Street. OPD Public Information Officer Dylan Evans said only one person was injured and the injuries were not life-threatening.

The report indicates that multiple people were at the residence at the time of the shooting, as four people are listed as victims. Evans said he could not answer the question of how many people were considered victims, though the report lists charges as being one count of first-degree assault (stemming from the injury) and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment (which is generally a charge given when a person is uninjured but in the immediate vicinity of gunfire).

The residence is also near the back side of At Home Self Storage, located on East 25th Street near the intersection with J.R. Miller Boulevard. The report shows that one of the storage buildings was found to have seven bullet holes in it.

Evans said he could not answer the question of whether the damage to the storage shed occurred during the shooting at the residence or if it was a separate incident, though both the shooting and property damage are listed on the same report. The report also includes the charge of first-degree criminal mischief for damage caused to the storage facility.

The investigation is ongoing.
