DCSO: 2 Owensboro women facing charges including trafficking in fentanyl, meth, ecstasy

Two Owensboro women, ages 28 and 22, are facing several trafficking charges after being found with various quantities of fentanyl-laced pills, methamphetamine, marijuana, and ecstasy along with a rifle, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. 

Per a release, DCSO Patrol Deputy Logan Burnett received information on Wednesday that led multiple agencies to respond to the 2800 block of West 4th Street in response to a drug trafficking operation.

A vehicle was stopped leaving the target residence, and detectives arrested Ciara Poston, 28, and Kyea Smith, 22. 

A search warrant was executed on the residence, where the drugs were found in addition to paraphernalia, money, a carbine style rifle, extended magazines, and ammunition. 

The investigation is ongoing.

Both women were charged with:

  • Trafficking Controlled Substance 1 Degree (carfentanil/fentanyl)(enhanced by firearm)
  • Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Meth)(enhanced by firearm)
  • Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Ecstasy)(enhanced by firearm)
  • Possession of Marijuana (enhanced by firearm)
  • Drug Paraphernalia – buy/possession (enhanced by firearm)

The DCSO Special Investigations Unit, the Kentucky State Police and the Department of Homeland Security all responded to the scene.
