OPD: 59-year-old woman arrested for stabbing man on Tuesday

A 59-year-old Owensboro woman has been arrested and charged with assault after police allege she stabbed a man multiple times Tuesday. 

According to the Owensboro Police Department, at approximately 8:21 p.m. Tuesday officers responded to a welfare check in the 1300 block of West 2nd Street. Officers found a male victim with multiple lacerations including two stab wounds to the left side of his back, officials said. 

The victim was transported by AMR to the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and treated for what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries, according to OPD.

Detectives developed Cynthia Irvin as a suspect during the investigation. Irvin was interviewed and subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree assault.

Irvin has previously been charged with the following: 

• Assault, 2nd Degree – Domestic Violence 

• Assault, 4th Degree – Domestic Violence (Minor Injury) (4 Counts) 

• Assault, 4th Degree – Domestic Violence (No Visible Injury) 

• Possession of Controlled Substance, 1st Degree – 1st Offense (Cocaine) 

• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, 1st Offense 

• Disorderly Conduct, 2nd Degree (3 Counts) 

• Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place (21 Counts) 

• Resisting Arrest 

• Giving Officer False Name or Address
