A 23-year-old Owensboro man was arrested after police allege he assaulted and robbed a female victim who had just retrieved money from an ATM on Starlite Drive on Saturday evening, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
According to OPD, at approximately 7:10 p.m. Saturday officers responded to a robbery in the 1600 block of Starlite Drive.
“While retrieving money from the ATM, the female victim was approached by a male subject. The female victim was assaulted and sustained multiple injuries while the male subject subsequently took the withdrawn money,” according to a release from OPD. “Officers set up a perimeter to search for the male subject and canvassed the area for surveillance footage.”
During the course of the investigation, Manuel Cuahua was developed as a suspect and subsequently interviewed by detectives, according to OPD. Cuahua was arrested Sunday and charged with first-degree robbery.
Cuahua has previously been charged with the following, according to OPD:
• Theft from a building $500 < $1,000
• Drug paraphernalia – buy/possess (2 counts)
• Criminal trespassing, 3rd degree
• Fleeing or evading police, 2nd degree (on foot) (2 counts)
• Theft of identity of another without consent (2 counts)
• Trafficking in marijuana (8 oz to less than 5 lbs), 1st Offense
• Resisting arrest (2 counts)
