Ten people — including six from Owensboro and one from Hawesville — are facing added federal drug-related charges after the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky returned additional indictments last week. The charges stem directly from a long-term drug trafficking investigation that led to 12 people being federally charged in February with two counts each of conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of meth.
On February 22, 2023, raids were conducted throughout the day, resulting in the seizure of five weapons, multi-pound quantities of methamphetamines, and several other narcotics including cocaine, heroin, and LSD. Earlier that month, a federal grand jury in Bowling Green returned a two-count indictment for the conspiracy for actions between July 2022 and February 14, 2023.
The Owensboro Police Department worked in conjunction with numerous agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, Kentucky State Police Western Kentucky Interdiction Team, and United States Postal Service Postal Inspection for the investigation.
