The Putt Putt Pub Crawl will return to downtown Owensboro for its fifth year on June 17. Downtown businesses will construct a fun and creative putt-putt hole for participants to try as they mosey from spot to spot, all while raising funds for a local nonprofit.

Ruoff Mortgage is sponsoring the Brew Bridge Trolley for the entire day to celebrate the milestone. With the green cup law intact, participants can walk or ride the trolley on the course, sampling food and drink specials at each location.

“This is a really fun day for people to come together in the community,” said Natalie Anderson, who organizes the event with her sister Courtney VonGunten. “It’s beautiful to see local businesses and people unite to support the cause.”

This year’s event benefits My Sister’s Keeper – a new 20-bed facility for women and children in Owensboro. Anderson said My Sister’s Keeper allows participants to put a visual to the $20 per person entry fee.

“Every $1,000 raised puts a woman or a child in a bed for an entire year,” she said. “It’s a powerful thing to know exactly how you’re helping someone out. In this case, we can provide a safe place for women and children for an entire year.”

This year’s participating establishments are Brew Bridge, Burger Theory, Brasher’s Lil’ Nashville, City Walk of Owensboro, Don Mario, Fetta Speciality Pizza, Goodwood Brewing and Spirits, Lure Seafood and Grille, Mellow Mushroom, Ruoff Mortgage, The Pub on Second, and SIP Owensboro.

Prizes will be awarded to the team with the lowest score and the best golf attire, as voted on by fellow participants. Organizers said they also extend a surprise award every year and intend to do that this year as well.

While a putter and balls are provided at every hole, golfers can bring their own equipment. Individuals with no team of four are also welcome and will be placed on a team accordingly.

Participants must be 21 to participate. Registration begins at 11 a.m. at the Lure, with a shotgun start slated for noon. Early registration is available online here. The event will accept entry fee payment in-person at the event or via Venmo @PPC-2023.

“This is just an enjoyable event that people love,” Anderson said. “The businesses downtown go all out to create custom putt-putt holes. It’s great to see the city of Owensboro and visitors come together and enjoy themselves for a worthy cause.”

Teams can tackle the multi-block course in any order but must return their scorecards by 3:30 at Brew Bridge. There, groups can enjoy an after-party and listen to see if they are crowned a winner.

“It just always brings such a huge smile to my face to walk around and see the unique putt-putt holes these downtown businesses made, admire so many fun and creative costumes, and just take in all of the laughter and enjoyment being had throughout the day,” VonGunten said. “So many different people from different places come together and support downtown Owensboro, and this year are also supporting My Sister’s Keeper.”
