Daviess County Fiscal Court is planning to keep tax rates unchanged for the 2022-23 fiscal year.

County Treasurer Jordan Johnson said after examining the current financial position and the projection over the next few years, “keeping the rates the same will generate sufficient revenue to manage the fiscal year 2023-24 budget with no apparent negative impact to future fiscal years.”

The current tax rates are as follows:

  • Real property: 13 cents per $100 of assessed value
  • Tangible personal property: 13.84 cents per $100 of assessed value
  • Motor vehicles and watercraft: 17 cents per $100 of assessed value

As Thursday marked the first reading of the ordinance, Fiscal Court did not vote on the proposal. They can do so at the second reading later this month.
