OPD: 73-year-old charged for Friday firearm discharge

A 73-year-old Owensboro man has been charged with two counts of wanton endangerment in relation to a Friday night firearm discharge, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

According to OPD, at approximately 8:28 p.m. Friday OPD responded to the 300 block of Hale Avenue for the incident. Officers interviewed witnesses, and the suspect, and processed the scene for evidence. 

“Based upon the investigation, a verbal argument escalated when the suspect discharged a handgun in the vicinity of multiple residents. Officers collected and logged into evidence a firearm and a shell casing,” according to OPD.

The male suspect was identified as David Cooper, who was arrested and is currently lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
