Louisville-based global health nonprofit made a significant donation to local city and county schools on Thursday. The group has extended several medical items to eight schools to increase hands-on learning opportunities.
SOS is also supplying the districts, which collectively serve 16,000 students, with medical supplies for student care at school and addressing injuries incurred at school or during athletics. The donation transpired at The Center of Owensboro-Daviess County at 3520 New Hartford Road in Owensboro.
In a release from SOS, they said they will deliver the supplies to The Center, which will assist in distributing them.
“This outreach effort to Owensboro and Daviess County schools marks an expansion of the ongoing partnership with SOS and social service organizations in Owensboro,” they said in a release.
The medical items and equipment included mobility aids like wheelchairs, knee scooters, and transfer benches; wound care items like gauze, dressings, and band-aids; orthopedic care like arm slings, knee braces, ace bandages, tape and pre-wrap; and supplies for children who need to monitor blood sugar/diabetic conditions (glucometers, lancets, etc).
