The Daviess County Election Office is seeking more poll workers to work this election season.

County Clerk Leslie McCarty said that as poll workers, they would be committed to going to the training for all poll workers and working the day of the election, November 7 — with the option of working early voting.

McCarty said in total, they try to do 200 poll workers — with a 50% split by party to ensure there is equal representation.

As a worker, there are four jobs ranging from helping someone receive the correct ballot to ensuring that a ballot is turned in correctly.

“Really, everybody there kind of helps each other with their jobs,” McCarty said.

McCarty said the work is paid as well, with a $200 pay for the two-day commitment. McCarty said they still have positions open for the early voting, which would also yield a higher pay.

If someone is interested in working the polls, McCarty said to contact the County Clerk’s office or their Party’s representative on the Election Council: Republican Representative Jane Lambert and Democratic Representative Lisa Leonard.

The application to work is found on the County’s Election site.

The only local race will be the City Commissioner race to decide who will fill the remainder of late City Commissioner Larry Maglinger and the Governor race, which is between Governor Andy Beshear and current Attorney General Daniel Cameron. There will be other state executive races as well.
