One of downtown Owensboro’s newest businesses, RYco Jewelers, will now feature an Aaron Kizer gallery. To celebrate the partnership, the two are hosting a Kizer print release and mural reveal at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Kizer’s new and old paintings will fill the showroom, giving life to the store’s walls. Formerly Riley and Co., the jewelry store sits at 100 W. 2nd St. and specializes in luxury jewelry, custom designs, and in-house repairs.

“RYco is proud to be a part of the collaborative vision that has come to life in downtown Owensboro with Kizer Arts,” said owners Steven Riley, Tony and John Yager. “We believe in pushing discounts to the people of the city we grew up in, which has helped many of our previous companies succeed.”

Kizer will unveil a massive outdoor mural consuming an entire side of the store facing Allen St. He intends to change the mural’s faces seasonally, always striving to pay homage to Owensboro or Kentucky.

“I don’t know why I haven’t done a major mural in town yet, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” Kizer said. “Having one downtown at the epicenter of Owensboro means a lot to me.”

He decided to do the mural on Wednesday and started painting the side of the building black before the rain hit. Still plagued by weather, he’s committed to finishing the project by Saturday’s event.

“Whenever I think of something cool to do, I always do it as fast as I can before I think it’s not cool anymore,” he said. “This will be an amazing event. I’m thankful to have such great partners who also proudly call Owensboro home.”

He’ll also be releasing 10 signed and numbered prints, entering those who purchase one into a drawing to win a one-of-one hand-painted Green River Distilling Co. bottle. Kizer’s previously hand-painted 50 Makers Mark bottles, some of which have sold for as much as $5,000.

Kizer will have over 30 prints for sale.

The owners were also eager to announce catering partnerships with Lure Seafood and Grille and the Famous Bistro. Some nights, they’ll turn the show floor into a pop-up Jazz cocktail lounge featuring specialized seasonal cocktails from the Lure.

The Lure and the Lure Smoke Shack will be onsite with various food and drink options for the event.
