A 14-year-old and 15-year-old are each facing charges after breaking into a home and being found with a loaded handgun, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
According to a release, just before noon on Tuesday OPD responded to the 1900 block of Village Run in reference to a juvenile complaint. The release says that while in the area, officers were advised that a house in the 2100 block of Village Run had been broken into.
“A resident stated he arrived home to find two male juveniles inside the home. The juveniles left the area on foot. A short time later patrol officers located both male juveniles in the 2700 block of Strawbridge Place. The juveniles were arrested and found to be in possession of a loaded handgun and stolen ammunition,” according to the release.
Both juveniles were transported to Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center on the following charges of 1st-degree burglary and possession of a handgun by a minor (first offense).
The 14-year-old has previously been charged with the following, according to OPD:
• Burglary 2nd Degree
• Burglary 3rd Degree
• Escape 3rd Degree
• Receiving Stolen Property $1,000 less than $10,000
• Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree (2 Counts)
The 15-year-old has not previously been charged, according to OPD.
