OPD: 3 arrested after multiple firearms, drugs seized following incident that began on bypass

Three people are facing numerous charges after an incident that began with a report of occupants of a vehicle pointing a gun at the driver of another vehicle while driving on the Wendell Ford Expressway (commonly known as the bypass) on Monday. Following a collision involving the vehicles, multiple firearms and drugs were found during a seizure, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

According to a release, Owensboro-Daviess County Central Dispatch on Monday received information that two vehicles on the Wendell Ford Expressway were driving in a reckless manner with occupants in one vehicle pointing a firearm at the operator of another vehicle. 

“While attempting to locate the vehicles involved, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Frederica Street and West 25th Street for a collision involving one of the suspected vehicles,” according to OPD. “As units responded to the collision, officers in another area observed the second vehicle involved and initiated a traffic stop.” 

According to the release, officers observed multiple loaded firearms including a Draco AK47 pistol inside the vehicle. An OPD K-9 alerted on the vehicle, according to the release, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of firearms, numerous loaded magazines, hydrocodone pills, marijuana, and a large sum of cash. 

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division and Street Crimes Unit were called to the scene to continue their investigation. 

The below subjects, all of whom have several previous criminal charges, were arrested and are currently lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center on the following charges: 

  • Preston Williams (31, of Owensboro) 
    • Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree 
    • Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon 
    • Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree – 1st Offense (Drug Unspecified) (Enhancement) 
    • Trafficking in Marijuana (8 ounces less than 5 pounds) – 1st Offense (Enhancement) 
  • Tyler English (26, Owensboro) 
    • Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree (6 Counts) 
    • Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree – 1st Offense (Drug Unspecified) (Enhancement) 
    • Trafficking in Marijuana (8 ounces less than 5 pounds) – 1st Offense (Enhancement) 
  • Aaron Dixon (30, of Hartford) 
    • Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree 
    • Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon 
    • Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree – 1st Offense (Drug Unspecified) (Enhancement) 
    • Trafficking in Marijuana (8 ounces less than 5 pounds) – 1st Offense (Enhancement)
