Two juveniles are now held in Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center after stealing a vehicle and a firearm Sunday morning, according to Owensboro Police Department.
OPD reported they witnessed two juveniles dressed in all black clothing in hotel parking lot at 1:07 a.m. on the 200 block Salem Drive. The subjects then fled the scene on foot until one was found on the 4600 Block of Salem Drive in possession of window punch and gloves.
The other subject was found on the 100 Block of Salem Drive with a backpack containing an empty handgun holster and fully loaded magazine found nearby, OPD reported.
A stolen vehicle was then found in a parking lot on the 4600 Block of Marlboro Drive with a broken window and handgun inside. The owner of the vehicle advised OPD that the vehicle had been stolen Saturday night and a handgun, holster, and magazine were inside, according to OPD.
The two male juveniles were transported to Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center with the following charges:
- Theft of a Firearm
- Possession of a Handgun by a Minor 2nd or Greater Offense
- Theft of Auto $1,000 less than $10,000
- Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree (On Foot)
- Possession of Burglary Tools
- Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree
- Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree
The first juvenile, 15, of Owensboro, has previously been charged with the following:
- Possession of a Handgun by a Minor 1st Offense (2 Counts)
- Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (On Foot)
- Theft of Auto $1,000 less than $10,000
- Theft of Auto
The second juvenile, 16, of Owensboro, has previously been charged with the following:
- Receiving Stolen Property $1,000 less than $10,000
- Assault 4th Degree (No Visible Injury)
