Atmos Energy is replacing aging steel pipelines on the west side of Owensboro, a project that will span the next couple of months.
Atmos will replace nearly 3,000 feet of bare steel main with new pipe, along with 51 service lines (lines from street to house). Each homeowner will be updated accordingly, according to Atmos. Contractors will be working in the following areas:
- West 9th Street from Crabtree Avenue to Omega Street
- Omega Street from West 9th Street to alley just north of West 7th Street
- West 7th Street from Omega Street to dead end
Atmos Energy will work with local officials should road closures become necessary. There will be signage and professional flagging crews on site when necessary.
The anticipated date of completion is late February 2024. The cost of the project is approximately $538,000.
“Atmos Energy is committed to safety. It is our number one priority,” said Kay Coomes, Manager of Public Affairs.
