The drivers in the double fatality on the bypass Wednesday morning have been identified as 2 people from Owensboro.
According to the Daviess County Coroner’s Office, the driver of the westbound vehicle was identified as Nicholle Haynes, 43, and the driver of the eastbound vehicle was identified as Robert C. Brown, 46. The cause of death for both was blunt force trauma, according to a release issued Thursday by Daviess County Coroner Jeff Jones.
According to a previous release from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, at 7:23 a.m. on Wednesday Owensboro-Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call of a vehicle collision in the 2100 block of the Wendell Ford Expressway (commonly known as the bypass), located between Pleasant Valley Road and KY 144.
“Initial investigation indicates that a westbound passenger car crossed the median for unknown reasons and struck a pickup truck traveling east causing a head-on collision with severe damage to both vehicles,” according to DCSO.
Both drivers were pronounced deceased on scene by the Daviess County Coroner’s Office. There were no other passengers in either vehicle nor any other vehicles involved, according to DCSO.
