O’Bryan’s Bar and Grill in West Louisville has sold again, this time to Sarah Robinson, Michael Powers, and Spencer Ott. Robinson had worked at O’Bryan’s for nearly a decade and, after consulting with Powers and Ott, decided to purchase the local icon.
O’Bryan’s has been a part of the West Louisville and St. Joseph communities since 1948.
“I’ve grown to love the community and the establishment. The majority of my memories have involved this place, and everyone just wants to see it thrive,” Robinson said. “It’s quite a social hub here in the west county, and the 3 of us really wanted to be a part of that and continue its legacy.”
Robinson said the changes they’ve made have been subtle, adjusting the menu to focus more on crowd favorites and specialties. She added that they’re working to improve the quality of food brought into the restaurant.
They’re emphasizing sourcing ingredients locally, which she said will fare well in the farming-centric community. They also want to improve the building while maintaining the vibe locals have grown to love.
“We really want to source what we can locally and have been slowly integrating it into the business,” she said. “There are no concrete plans concerning the building, but we do have some projects we would like to tackle to improve the atmosphere and make some needed updates.”
The restaurant and bar hosts several holiday-themed parties throughout the year. Customers can also enjoy smaller events like trivia, Singo (a musical bingo game), and Pedro (a trick-taking card game0.
“We just want to see this place thrive while continuing to be a positive influence and active member of the community around us,” Robinson said. “We want O’Bryan’s to remain a household name, and we are focusing on bringing new and fun things to the restaurant and bar.”
O’Bryan’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Party is the next major event on the calendar. It’s on December 16th at 9 p.m. and features entertainment by DJ Yondell.
Robinson said she, Powers, and Ott remained steadfast in their efforts to enhance the West Louisville and St. Joseph communities. Since becoming owners, they’ve participated in West Louisville Elementary’s Trunk or Treat and donated to nonprofits and events in the area.
“We feel that the West Louisville and St. Joseph communities are in their own little worlds, and we want to make sure we recognize our regulars and encourage people from Owensboro to make the short drive out here to give us a try,” she said. “Being a part of this community is huge, and we want to show our commitment through sponsorships and other opportunities to be involved with the community around us.”
