OPD: Man arrested after more than half pound of meth found in hotel room

A 58-year-old Madisonville man is facing multiple drug charges after more than a half pound of meth and about 1.5 pounds of marijuana were found in his hotel room in Owensboro, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

According to a release, OPD officers executed a search warrant just after 2 p.m. Saturday at Days Inn by Wyndham Owensboro hotel at 3720 New Hartford Road. 

Officers located Jerrel Doster, 58, who had multiple felony warrants, according to OPD. The release said that Doster was arrested on the warrants and officers obtained a search warrant for Doster’s room, where they located over a half pound of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 1.5 pounds of marijuana, a digital scale, and several items of drug paraphernalia. 

Doster was arrested and transported to the Daviess County Detention Center on the following charges by OPD: 

• Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd or Greater Offense (Greater  than or Equal to 2 grams Methamphetamine) 

• Trafficking in Marijuana (8 ounces to Less than 5 pounds) 1st Offense 

• Drug Paraphernalia 

According to OPD, Doster has more than a dozen previous drug-related charges.
