In an effort to give back to the community, The Pub on 2nd is launching a monthly trivia night — called Quiz for a Cause — with proceeds going to local nonprofits.

Owners John Condray and Bill Brown said their first event on January 31 will gift the Help Office with all proceeds from that night’s table sales. They aim to raise $2,000 each month, with the donation totally reliant on ticket sales. There will be 20 tables of 4 available for $25 per seat at each trivia night.

While they want friends to participate in the events, Condray and Brown hope to get businesses involved.

“The hope is to reach out to more of the commercial entities in town to get them to kind of buy in and get tables to compete against each other,” Condray said.

Brown said they chose The Help Office first to help generate some funds for the organization’s winter efforts.

Angela Settle, executive director of the Help Center, said the donations will bring awareness to their mission.

“It is hard to believe, but sadly true, that people in Daviess County struggle to provide food for their families. The proceeds from the Quiz for the Cause will provide financial assistance with utility and rent bills and allow us to purchase food for those in need,” Settle said.

The nonprofit benefiting from that month’s donation can participate in the trivia night for free, if they so desire. A new organization will be chosen each month.

Condray and Brown said tables can be purchased on their website or by calling The Pub at 270-240-1472.
