Governor Andy Beshear will be in Beaver Dam on Monday at 12:30 p.m. as WPT Nonwovens Corporation launches the largest pleat media air filtration production line in the United States. Owensboro’s Travis Robbins serves as president of the third-generation-owned company.
WPT invested over $19.5 million in the new fiber nonwoven manufacturing line, adding 35 new jobs to the already bustling 100-plus-person workforce. The latest development includes a new 75,000-square-foot building, representing the most significant investment in the air filtration plate market in the nation.
“For the community, the new line and facility means a robust new source for economic growth,” Robbins said. “It also means a significant amount of new job opportunities for people in the area. We’re excited to meet the growing demand for American-made nonwoven filtration media.”
Robbins said WPT is adamant about expanding lines and capabilities in the U.S., all with a domestic supply chain.
“We’re creating a high level of reliability, quality, and service customers can depend on as they build their brands, launch new products, and reach their commercial growth targets,” he said. “Our products and services extend beyond filtration media. We also specialize in nonwovens for use in the medical, personal protective equipment (PPE), hygiene, and industrial sectors.”
The new thermobonding line for nonwoven filter media adds over 12,000 metric tons of additional annual capacity. The expansion marks the second massive expansion for the company, which invested over 6 million dollars in the former Nestaway facility in 2018.
Robbins is a U.S. Army combat veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. WPT is 100% American-owned, FDA-registered, and a service-disabled veteran-owned small business.
“We’re excited to host Governor Beshear for this monumental occasion,” Robbins said. “We’re excited to continue growing in our community and are thankful for the continued support.”
WPT is located at 985 West 7th Street in Beaver Dam, KY. For more information, reach out to Robbins at [email protected].
