EMA: Tornado safe spaces ahead of Tuesday night storm

The Daviess County Emergency Management Agency has provided a list of spaces for those seeking refuge from the storm projected to affect the area on Tuesday night.

In a Facebook post, EMA officials said that the locations listed below are not shelters nor County-operated, but would be open starting at 8 p.m. for anyone looking for a spot to remain safe.

Pets and animals are not permitted in the facilities unless they are trained service pets.

  • Legacy Owensboro – 5333 Frederica Street. Park in the front parking lot and church staff will show guests to safe areas.
  • Owensboro Christian Church – 2818 New Hartford Road. Park in the building’s rear and Shield Security and/or church staff will guide guests.
  • St. Stephens Cathedral – 610 Locust Street.
  • Yellow Creek Baptist Church – 5741 KY 144.
