Two people are facing drug-related charges following the execution of a search warrant on Venable Avenue that resulted in the seizure of fentanyl and other evidence Wednesday morning, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a release, members of the DCSO Special Investigations, General Investigations, K-9, and Patrol units executed a search warrant at approximately 8 a.m. in the 1200 block of Venable Avenue at the residence of Zachary Sumner and Destiny Witt.

“This drug trafficking investigation was initiated as a result of citizen complaints and because the location is adjacent to a residential rehabilitation facility,” Sheriff Brady Youngman said. “Evidence seized from the residence included fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, digital scales, and surveillance equipment.”

Sumner, 35, and Witt, 34, were both charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and buying/possession of drug paraphernalia.  Sumner was also charged with multiple outstanding arrest warrants.

Both were arrested at the scene and transported to the Daviess County Detention Center.

This is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges are expected, according to DCSO.
