Owensboro-area nonprofits can learn skills like grant proposal planning and writing, locating grant funding opportunities, strategies for securing federal grants, and more in a two-day grant workshop hosted by Kentucky Nonprofit Network (KNN) in partnership with Grant Ready Kentucky and sponsored by Dean Dorton.

The workshop is set for March 14-15 at the Jack T. Wells Activity Center in the Young Auditorium at Kentucky Wesleyan College, 3300 Frederica St. Grants 101 & 102 workshop will be led by grant professional Melissa Vermillion, GPC, MBA. She is an instructor with extensive experience securing more than $40 million in state and federal funding and a particular interest in helping rural nonprofits and communities achieve their goals.

The workshop — set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. CT each day — will teach participants the basics of writing styles, proposal planning, proposal writing format, basic grant components, budgeting, finding grant opportunities, making an application competitive, and more. Specifically, the first day will introduce the grant process, while the second will take a deeper dive into a winning federal grant application.

The workshop is open to both members and potential organizations. KNN member registration is $50 for both days and $30 for one day; the potential members fee is $80 and $45, respectively, but you can join KNN and take advantage of the lower cost and other member benefits. Lunch is included in the registration fee.
