Owensboro Times is hosting an in-person Town Hall on May 9 with the candidates in Owensboro’s City Commission and Mayoral Primary Election races. We’re currently accepting community input regarding the questions.

The Town Hall will be held at the Bluegrass Hall of Fame & Museum. The City Commission Town Hall will begin at 5 p.m., with the Mayoral Town Hall beginning at 6:30.

An invitation has been extended to all candidates. Most have already responded that they plan to attend.

The two segments of the Town Hall will be broadcast live on the OT Facebook Page. The videos will remain there and will also be uploaded to owensborotimes.com for those who can’t attend or view the live feeds. Guests will be allowed to attend in person for free on a first-come, first-served basis, though they will not be allowed to ask questions during the event.

Candidates will be given the general topics ahead of time, but specific questions will be asked for the first time during the event.

The community is invited to submit questions they’d like to be considered by sending them to us here.

New this year, and for the Mayoral segment only, rebuttals will be allowed. If a candidate is mentioned by name, they will be given 30 seconds for their rebuttal. Additionally, each Mayoral candidate will be given one “OT Card” that gives them 30 seconds for a rebuttal at any point during the Town Hall. The card may only be used once and may not be used to simply add an extra 30 seconds to their own response.

OT has partnered with Tanner+West and the Bluegrass Hall of Fame to produce the live streams. Jake Boswell will serve as the moderator for the event.
