Wendell Foster’s annual yard sale has grown so much over the last decade that it will span 2 days for the first time ever. Donations are being accepted today through Thursday, with the yard sale taking place Friday-Saturday.
Wendell Foster is a local nonprofit organization serving people with disabilities.
The yard sale will take place from 7 a.m. to noon both Friday and Saturday at Wendell Foster’s campus at 815 Triplett Street.
The yard sale, a bi-yearly event at the campus, raises proceeds for the Wendell Foster Christmas Fund to ensure every resident at Wendell Foster receives a few gifts during the holiday season.
“Our yard sales are so popular that we expanded to two days for our spring sale,” said Jennifer Owsley-Midkiff, Director of Recreation at Wendell Foster. “We will also be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers to sell, which will contribute to the Christmas Fund. We invite the community to shop, grab a bite to eat, and support our residents.”
Donations will be accepted April 30 from 8 a.m. to noon, and May 1 and 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All donations, except clothes and shoes, will be accepted. Large items such as decor and furniture are welcome. Donations can be dropped off at the Young Building, located at Wendell Foster’s campus.
“We appreciate both the donations of items to sell and those who come to the yard sale to purchase items,” said Owsley-Midkiff. “The Christmas season truly wouldn’t be the same for our residents without the yard sale and the community support.”
