A free tire disposal event is set for May 23-25, allowing residents to recycle nearly all manner of tires ranging from those used for bicycles to tractors.
The Tire Amnesty event will be held at the KYTC Maintenance Garage on Fairview Drive, near Horse Fork Creek Park. Collection times will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 23-24 and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on May 25.
The event is open to all Kentucky residents. Tires will be accepted on or off the rim.
Nearly all tires will be accepted, including farm implement, bicycle, motorcycle, golf cart, ATV, tractor, truck, passenger, and more. Workers cannot accept off-road construction tires, tracks or solid tires.
Excluded from the list are foam-filled, calcium-filled, or solid tires, as well as rubber tracks and off-road construction tires (OTR).
Tire retailers, scrap/salvage yards, and recycling businesses are expressly prohibited from participating in Tire Amnesty days.
This event is supported by the Division of Waste Management in the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet.
