DCSO: Habitual drug trafficker arrested again

An Owensboro man with four previous convictions of trafficking in cocaine has been arrested on meth trafficking charges, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a release, DCSO’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) detectives on Thursday arrested Joseph “Bubby” Roncalli Murphy in the 600 block of Wing Avenue. 

“SIU has been conducting a drug trafficking investigation on Murphy for several months and conducted multiple undercover purchases of methamphetamine from him during the investigation,” the release says. 

At the time of his arrest, Murphy was on probation from previous drug trafficking convictions, according to DCSO.

Murphy, 65, of the 1100 block of West 7th Street, was arrested and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center. He was charged with two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, 2nd offense or greater (> or = 2 grams Methamphetamines).

According to DCSO, Murphy’s previous convictions were for trafficking in cocaine in 2006, 2008, and 2015, along with trafficking in meth and cocaine in 2019.
