DCSO: Two arrests made in firearm investigation

Joshua Vick, 19, of Owensboro, and Chelsea Hastie, 33, of Owensboro, were arrested after a firearm investigation resulted in the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office finding drugs and a defaced gun Sunday morning, DCSO reports.

According to DCSO, the agency was dispatched to the 200 block of Irene Ave, where Vick was pointing a firearm at two juveniles. Before the deputies arrived on the scene, they reported Vick received a ride from the juveniles and then fled before DCSO arrived.

At 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning, deputies received a tip that Vick was inside a residence on the 6800 block of Thoma Drive. Deputies found Vick, along with two other subjects, in the residence. They then took Vick into custody and detained the other two subjects.

After a search, Vick possessed “suspected methamphetamine,” according to reports. After receiving a search warrant, the deputies located the defaced firearm used in the incident on Saturday, more suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.

Deputies continued to search the residence and found drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine in Hastie’s room.

They also located a large amount of synthetic drugs with numerous baggies and cash, which they believe is part of a trafficking operation.

The third-party was released with no charges.

Vick is facing the following charges:

  • Wanton Endangerment – 1st Degree (2 Counts)
  • Possession of Defaced Firearm
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon

Vick has the following charges after from the Search Warrant

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine) (Enhanced)
  • Drug Paraphernalia (Buy/Possess) (Enhanced)
  • Possession of Marijuana (Enhanced)

Hastie is facing the following charges:

  • Trafficking in Synthetic Drugs – 1st Offense
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Drug Paraphernalia (Buy/Possess)

Both are being held in Daviess County Detention Center.
