The Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) recently presented the Owensboro Riverport Authority (ORA) with a 2024 Safety Grant. The money helps KLC members provide services and programs to reduce liabilities and promote safer communities.

Human resource, safety, and security compliance manager Carol Huff said ORA is excited to receive the grant.

“ORA values the contributions our employees make to the success of our business,” Huff said. “We take pride in our employees and strive for employees to work safely in order to provide for their families and go home the same way they came to work – healthy and safe.”

Huff said the grant proceeds will cover various items, including crane training, personal protective equipment, and general safety training.

KLC is a non-stock, nonprofit membership association serving more than 370 Kentucky cities and municipal agencies. Since 1999, the organization has awarded its members over $6.5 million in liability and safety grants.

“The Kentucky League of Cities is proud to support our members with these grants,” KLC Executive Director/CEO J.D. Chaney said. “Collaborative efforts between the League and our members are vital to promoting community safety and enhancing the quality of life.”

KLC Insurance is the commonwealth’s largest municipal insurance program. The agency helps members increase public safety with proactive programs and services and provides affordable liability, property, workers’ compensation, and other municipal insurance products.

The Kentucky League of Cities also offers employee benefits programs, legislative advocacy, financial and municipal law services, training, community development, and other resources that serve cities.
