Fastek Services, a provider of comprehensive IT solutions, is holding a Cyber Defense Workshop next month. Organizers said the free educational event is dedicated to empowering the local business community with the knowledge and tools necessary to protect against the growing threat of cyber attacks.
On September 4, technology industry leaders, cybersecurity experts, and law enforcement professionals fighting white-collar cybercrime will lead workshop discussions for small business leaders at the Owensboro Convention Center.
Featured presenters include David Powell, vice president of Pax8; Colin Glover, cybersecurity coordinator for Kentucky from the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA); Dr. Cheryl Purdy, digital forensic examiner/analyst at Daviess County Sheriff’s Office; and Andrea Robinson, executive director at OASIS Women’s Shelter. Other keynotes include experts in bank fraud, cyber liability insurance, and technical security solutions.
Doors open at 11 a.m., and a catered lunch will be provided. The program will begin at noon and conclude with a panel discussion and Q&A at 4 p.m.
The workshop will cover topics such as the easy ways hackers can access data, the unintentional risks posed by staff, industry-specific reasons why hackers target certain data, and simple steps businesses can take to significantly reduce their risk. Organizers said attendees will leave with a clear and comprehensive understanding of their business’s preparedness for an attack.
“We’re committed to helping our local businesses stay one step ahead of cyber threats,” said Chris Murphy, founder and president of Fastek Services. “This workshop is a testament to our dedication to the community, providing valuable insights and tools at no cost to our friends and neighbors in the region. Join us and take a proactive step towards securing your business’s digital future.”
Murphy said the workshop is ideal for small business owners, CEOs, CFOs, CIOs/CTOs, IT managers, network administrators, and any concerned company leaders.
Registration is open and free for all businesses. To sign up for the Cyber Defense Workshop, visit Fastek’s website at fastekllc.com/cyber, email [email protected], or call 270-240-2840.
