Owensboro’s Bridget Stone was among 15 civilian employees honored Tuesday by Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman and the Kentucky State Police for their dedication to enhancing public safety. Stone was presented with the 2023 Records Technical Support Award.

Stone has served as a CJIS Compliance Specialist III for the LINK Audit Branch for the last 5 years. She spent 16 years prior to that working at KSP Post 16, where she was named “Civilian of the Year” in 2009.

Stone said her supervisor submitted her name in January for the Records Technical Support Award, and she found out a couple of months ago that she had been selected.

“I was shocked. I’m glad that my supervisor put me up for the award. There are other people on the staff that do an awesome job as well, but I’m glad she decided to pick me. I’m just honored,” Stone said.

KSP’s 800 civilian employees serve in a variety of roles from telecommunications, maintenance, driver testing, information technology, public relations, and records support.

During Tuesday’s ceremony, KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. recognized the important role civilian employees play in linking law enforcement to the public.

“Our civilian counterparts are the backbone of this agency and a lifeline to our sworn personnel. The continued success of the state police is a direct result of their dedicated public service and commitment,” he said. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything that you do.”
