The annual Bridge Walk will take place on September 14 before the start of the Owensboro Air Show, giving the public the opportunity to walk across the Owensboro Bridge. Drivers should be aware the bridge will be closed intermittently from September 12-15, while a portion of the river will similarly be closed to the public during those dates.

On September 14, the bridge will close to traffic at 7 a.m., and the public will have access from 7:30 until noon. Participants are welcome to stroll, jog, or run across the bridge, with strollers and pets permitted. The bridge will then close to the public and remain closed to traffic until the Owensboro Air Show concludes.

Owensboro Air Show activities will occur September 13 at the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport and September 14-15 in downtown Owensboro.

The bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic during the following times from September 12-15 due to the Owensboro Air Show and scheduled practice sessions:

  • Thursday, September 12: 12-4:30 p.m.
  • Friday, September 13: 12-4 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 14: 7 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, September 15: 12–4:30 p.m.

With the participation of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, city officials are also required to close a large area of the Ohio River and the English Park Boat Ramp. That portion of the river will be closed from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily from September 12-15.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels are headlining the show, complete with the fan-favorite Fat Albert performing. Joining the lineup will be the USAF Lighting II Demo Team to showcase the fifth-generation stealth F-35A

The lineup also features Rob Holland, a 12-time national aerobatic champion; the Wings of Blue Parachute Demo Team; Redline Airshows; the Northern Stars Aeroteam, a 3-ship Pitts Demo Team; and the KY Air National Guard with their C-130J Super Hercules.

Also participating will be the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) – Arizona with their iconic B-17 Flying Fortress and their B-25 Mitchell Bomber made famous as the aircraft flown by the Doolittle Raiders in WWII. The fan-favorite Army Aviation Heritage Sky Soldiers will bring their AH-1 Cobra and UH-1 Huey helicopters back to the show.

The CAF – Arizona team and the Sky Soldiers will offer paid rides in their historic aircraft throughout Air Show weekend, which hundreds of people have taken the opportunity to do over the years.
