Daviess County Parks and Rec is bringing a new event to Yellow Creek Park this October, with Halloween Hullabaloo set to offer a full fall festival experience including trick-or-treating, pumpkins, wagon rides, and more.
“This is sort of a mini Fall Festival. We wanted to do something for Halloween. It’s not typically a holiday where we’ve had an event at least for some time,” said Director of Parks and Public Information Jordan Rowe.
The Halloween Hullabaloo is a free event for all guests starting at 5 p.m. on October 25. There will be hayrides, candy, a costume contest, food vendors, games, and even a movie in the park.
Rowe said the large field used for ROMP will be set up to show Hotel Transylvania on a 40-foot big screen. They invite families to bring chairs, blankets, and other picnic materials.
“It’s utilizing adjacent spaces and fields just to ensure that it’s more spread out, and we don’t have 10,000 people in that little village area,” Rowe said.
A map and list of all activities and events is expected to be released closer to the event.
Rowe said that to bring energy to the county parks system, they have aimed to provide free or low-cost events throughout the year. After successfully hosting the Easter Egg Hunt in April, Rowe said they are trying to fill the whole park instead of one smaller area.
“We learned that the Pioneer Village was not enough space for 5,000+ people,” Rowe said. “I think we’ll have that again, so I’m anticipating that if the weather is nice, we’ll have another large crowd, so we wanted to be prepared.”
