OPD investigating shooting investigation, 1 person injured

Update: Police are asking for assistance in locating the suspect, 18-year-old Dequinya Adams, in a shooting that left one person with non-life-threatening injuries on September 19. The incident is believed to be isolated with a targeted victim, but the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be confronted, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

The Owensboro Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person injured Thursday evening. Authorities say they believe it is an isolated incident but ask the public to avoid the area as detectives are still gathering information.

According to a release, shortly after 6 p.m. on September 19, dispatch received multiple calls about a firearm discharge. Officers responded to the 600 block of Hathaway Street and to the intersection of East 8th Street and Center Street, officials said.

According to OPD, one person sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital by a personal vehicle. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time.

“Detectives and patrol officers are on scene gathering information. At this time, it appears to be an isolated incident. Please stay out of the area as the investigation is ongoing,” OPD said.
