There are three more meetings where the public is invited to share their thoughts on roads, sidewalks, bike paths, buses, and other transportation issues with the Owensboro-Daviess County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The next meeting is Thursday.
The MPO is working on its new 20-year road plan, called the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). The MPO has scheduled a series of public meetings to gather comments and opinions about transportation needs in Owensboro and Daviess County from anyone who lives or works in the county.
“If people in your neighborhood walk in the street because it doesn’t have sidewalks, come tell me about it,” said Tom Lovett, MPO Director. “Or if you feel like there’s an intersection that needs a crosswalk, I’d like to hear about it. If there’s a road you think could be rebuilt to be safer, please come tell me. This is your opportunity to have your voice included in the process.”
The public is invited to drop in during any of the remaining scheduled meetings to voice their suggestions and concerns to the MPO for inclusion in the new plan.
Four meetings will be held:
- 4:30-7:30 p.m. on September 26 at the Daviess County Public Library (202 Frederica Street)
- 4:30-7:30 p.m. on October 2 at the GRADD office (300 Gradd Way)
- 12-3 p.m. on October 9 at the Senior Community Center of Owensboro-Daviess County (1650 West 2nd Street)
Questions can be directed to Lovett by calling 270-926-4433 or emailing [email protected].
