The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) announced that residents will soon be able to pay their property and tangible tax bills online. Beginning in early November, tax bills can be viewed and paid at the DCSO website, www.dcsoky.gov. Payments can be made using a credit card or electronic check, though processing fees may apply.

Paper tax bills will still be mailed the first week of November, and each will include a QR code to guide taxpayers to the online payment option if they choose to use it.

“I am excited to roll out this new capability this year. Captain Coomes has done a great job on this,” Sheriff Brad Youngman said. “Online tax payments were one of my biggest priorities when I became sheriff, and I am very pleased we can now offer this to Daviess Countians. By doing so, we are modernizing our operations while also offering added convenience.”

The move to online payments is the result of a year of research and planning. The DCSO Tax Division Commander, Captain Alex Coomes, led the effort by consulting with software vendors and other sheriff’s offices that offer online tax collection services. As part of the transition, DCSO replaced its previous software, Tax Master, with Government Utilities Technology Service (GUTS).

When accessing the DCSO website, users will find a link on the homepage directing them to the payment portal operated by GUTS.

For those who prefer traditional methods, all previous payment options remain available. Residents can still pay in person with cash, check, money order, or credit cards (Discover, Mastercard, American Express, or Visa, with fees potentially applying). Check and money order payments can also be sent by mail.

2024 tax collection schedule:

  • December 11 – January 10: Base amount (no discount or penalty)
  • January 11 through February 10: 5% Penalty
  • February 11 through April 25: 21% Penalty
