Gov. Andy Beshear on Tuesday announced the launch of “New Kentucky Home,” a statewide marketing campaign aimed at attracting businesses, new residents, and tourists to the Commonwealth by promoting the state’s communities, cultural assets, and business opportunities. Claude Bacon, president and CEO of the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corp. and chair of Visit Owensboro, was invited to the launch alongside representatives from central and eastern Kentucky.

While highlighting the campaign’s state-wide objectives, Bacon emphasized how Owensboro and Daviess County stand to benefit from the enhanced focus on collaboration between economic development and tourism.

“The collaboration between economic development and tourism in Owensboro has produced real results, showing that we achieve more when we work together,” Bacon said. “Gov. Beshear’s initiative will help us elevate Owensboro’s story as part of the larger message about the commonwealth.”

The governor revealed that the “New Kentucky Home” campaign will combine new graphics, messaging strategies, and a rebranded website, NewKentuckyHome.ky.gov, with an emphasis on showcasing the state’s economic potential and quality of life.

As Bacon explained, the initiative aligns well with work already underway in Owensboro to enhance the area’s reputation as a desirable place to live, work, and visit.

Bacon noted that since 2020, Owensboro’s economic and tourism sectors have collaborated to highlight the economic impact of local tourism. He explained that the “New Kentucky Home” initiative offers an opportunity to establish a cohesive brand identity on a larger scale.

“While we’ve been fortunate to make strides in collaboration, this initiative provides us with an additional brand that allows Owensboro and Daviess County to amplify our reach,” he said.

As the campaign rolls out, Bacon said he’s eager to collaborate with local leaders to harness and implement the resources to attract visitors, investments, and residents.
