Curtis Maglinger has been elected to the Owensboro City Commission, securing his position as one of four commissioners with a third-place finish in the vote tally, receiving 8,776 votes.
Maglinger expressed his gratitude for the community’s support, describing the moment as “amazing” and a “special night” for both himself and Owensboro.
“I’m so honored by the support that Owensboro has shown,” Maglinger said. “I’m excited to help make a difference in our community.”
Maglinger’s connection to public service runs deep. For over 30 years, he worked alongside his father, who instilled in him a commitment to giving back.
“He taught us to give back and help the community,” Maglinger said. “This is a proud moment for our family and our business.”
Eager to begin his new role, Maglinger emphasized his readiness to collaborate with Mayor Tom Watson, his fellow commissioners, and Owensboro’s city staff.
“I’m excited to hit the ground running and bring some fresh eyes to the commission,” he said. “I’m ready to start tomorrow.”
This election marked Maglinger’s first campaign experience, and he reflected on the journey as “an amazing journey” filled with valuable lessons. He also expressed appreciation for his fellow candidates and the positive campaign they shared.
