The Owensboro Police Department is investigating two shooting incidents that occurred recently. One person was injured and several vehicles were struck during a shooting on Cedar Street on Thursday, while there have been no injuries reported for an incident that occurred Sunday, according to OPD.

According to a release, officers responded to the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital ER at approximately 6:10 p.m. on November 7 following a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers made contact with an adult male who reported being shot in the forearm while inside his vehicle near the 400 block of Cedar Street, according to a release. Additional calls regarding the shooting confirmed the incident location, OPD said.

Detectives from the OPD Criminal Investigations Division responded to both the scene on Cedar Street and the hospital to investigate the incident. Other vehicles in the vicinity were also struck by gunfire during the incident, according to OPD.

OPD is also investigating a report of a shooting that took place in the 400 block of Cedar Street just after 6 a.m. on November 10. No other information is available from OPD at this point of the investigation.

“Detectives are working to determine if any shooting is connected or related,” Sgt. Loren Yonts said in an email statement. “They very well may be independent and coincidental, but detectives weigh each investigation on its own merit (to determine the circumstances).”

OPD urges anyone with information about either case to contact the agency directly at 270-687-8888 or provide anonymous tips via Crimestoppers at 270-687-8484.
