Owensboro City Commissioner Sharon NeSmith has secured re-election, earning another term to continue her efforts on the board. With her experience and vision, NeSmith expressed her gratitude to the Owensboro community for the opportunity to keep contributing to the city’s growth and development.

“I’m excited to not only continue learning but also hopefully continue helping,” NeSmith said. “It’s a relief, and I’m proud that so many talented people were interested in serving. Owensboro has a bright future with potential leaders ready to step up as others of us move on.”

NeSmith acknowledged the strong momentum within the commission and its ongoing work. She said that with the help of city staff, budget officers, and City Manager Nate Pagan, Owensboro’s administration is keeping the city on a positive trajectory, balancing everyday tasks with long-term planning.

“Our city has an incredible team, from ensuring our streets are clean and our lights are on to addressing community needs,” she said. “We also face challenges, but there’s a lot of hope moving forward. The new senior citizens center is a major step, and there are more projects in the works.”

NeSmith credited fellow Commissioner Bob Glenn with tracking the growth in local job opportunities. While she acknowledged she couldn’t take credit for all of them, she said she was grateful to have contributed to a commission that prioritizes the city’s economic health.

Reflecting on her time in office, NeSmith shared how much she’s learned since joining the commission, now approaching her second full term.

“After about a year and a half, I’ve gained a new perspective on how things operate, and I appreciate the support I’ve received from everyone in Owensboro,” she said. “I’m thrilled to keep working with such a dedicated team, and I look forward to the positive developments ahead for our city.”
