Owensboro Mayor Tom Watson has won re-election, securing a fourth term after a hard-fought race. Watson said he’s focused on continued financial stability and city development.

Watson expressed gratitude for his campaign team, family, and friends who helped him along the way.

“It’s incredibly gratifying,” Watson said. “I had a fantastic team backing me every step of the way. My wife was instrumental in keeping me focused, and we had a lot of good friends who really pulled together to make this possible.”

During his previous term, Watson said he prioritized the city’s financial challenges, a key point in his campaign.

“When I came into office, Owensboro was dealing with a major deficit issue,” he said. “Our goal was to get the city out of debt, and we’ve achieved that. We now have money in the bank, we’re paying our bills on time, and it’s given us the freedom to focus on bigger projects.”

Watson highlighted plans to proceed with the construction of a new indoor sports facility, which he believes will drive economic growth and serve as a community asset.

“This facility has the potential to bring in more tourism, host large events, and offer more recreational options for our residents,” Watson said. “We’re just getting started on what’s possible for Owensboro.”

With the support of Owensboro voters, he said he looks forward to another term dedicated to enhancing the city’s stability and furthering development efforts.
