Apollo outlasted Owensboro in an important city-county match, Daviess Couty took down Trinity at home, and Hancock County picked up a massive road win.
Apollo 59, Owensboro 54
Tate Powers scored a game-high 21 points, including a team-high two three pointers to help the Eagles outlast the Red Devils 59-54. Kobe Kelly was second on the team in scoring with 12 points, while also going a perfect 6-6 at the line.
“It was a gutsy win for our team and the kids fought their tails off,” Apollo head coach Ryne Tinsley said. “It was a good defensive effort, but we must get better at executing in the half court.”
For the Red Devils, Keaton Hughes scored 15 of his team-high 17 points in the second half, while Michael Acton added 12 points.
Daviess County 78, Trinity 48
Jonathan Moss’s team-high 20 points helped the Panthers stay undefeated, taking down Trinity 78-48. Jaxon Brown was second on the team in scoring with 15 points, while Ayden Ayer led the team in threes with two.
“I thought we were efficient offensively with having 21 assists on 31 field goals,” Daviess County head coach Neil Hayden said. “Some of this was created through our defense, so overall it was a good team win.”
For the Raiders, Connor Hatfield (12), Hayden Aull (11), and (10) Ian Roby all finished in double-digit scoring.
“We definitely played better than Monday,” Trinity head coach Nathan West said. “We shot it fairly well and we battled on the glass. We did a lot of undisciplined things defensively in the first half that opened up the score in the second quarter. But overall, I was pleased with our teams progress.”
Hancock County 58, Brown 49
Alex Madden’s double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds helped the Hornets leave Brown with a win. Keegan Wilson was second on the team in scoring with 18 points while hitting a team-high four three-pointers. Dylan Morris finished with four points, but added six assists, five rebounds, and one steal.
“We played well. Brown shot the ball well and on the road in a hostile environment, we showed good composure and got the win,” Hancock County head coach Josh Roberts said. “Our defensive effort was an important factor in the win.”
