A man has been arrested for stabbing someone at the Cadillac Motel on Saturday afternoon, according to the Owensboro Police Department. Officials said it’s unrelated to the incident near the motel on Thursday, for which another person was arrested for causing a “severe laceration” to a victim who had to be life-flighted for his injuries.
According to a release, OPD patrol officers responded shortly after 5 p.m. on December 21 to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital after a male victim arrived with a stab wound. Initial investigation suggests the assault occurred at the Cadillac Motel, officials said.
Officers detained 26-year-old Brandon Cook as the suspect. He was later charged with first-degree assault and lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center.
According to OPD, this was an isolated incident and unrelated to an assault near the Cadillac Motel on Thursday.
For Thursday’s incident, 26-year-old Preston Smith was charged with first-degree assault. According to OPD, patrol officers responded shortly after 9 p.m. on Thursday to a report of a bleeding male at the bus stop near the Cadillac Motel. Upon arrival, officers found the victim near the intersection of West 2nd Street and Frayser Avenue, suffering from a severe laceration to his left hand/wrist, a release says.
Officers immediately initiated life-saving measures, including applying a tourniquet, and provided care until the Owensboro Fire Department (OFD) and American Medical Response (AMR) arrived on the scene, according to OPD.
Officials said the victim was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital (OHRH) and then life-flighted to Louisville for further medical treatment.
OPD also said Thursday night’s assault was an isolated incident.
