The emergency at Owensboro Christian Church will remain open today and through the night for those needing a warm, safe place to stay during the winter storm.
Those seeking shelter should use Entrance H near the Rec Center. Linens and cots will be provided, but guests are encouraged to bring blankets, pillows, snacks, and water.
The shelter is open to anyone in Owensboro-Daviess County without power or needing to escape the hazardous weather conditions. No pets are allowed at the site.
Daviess County Emergency Management Agency will re-evaluate the ongoing need for the shelter at 8 a.m. on January 7.
