Residents of Owensboro and surrounding areas should prepare for continued cold conditions and possible snowfall impacts later this week, according to the latest projections from the National Weather Service.
According to NWS, sub-freezing temperatures will persist through the week, with highs struggling to rise above freezing.
Snow is expected to start before or around dawn Friday and persist through the evening. The rough forecast currently shows 1-4 inches along and north of a Poplar Bluff to Owensboro line and approximately 2-5 inches along and south of that line.
Models from the NWS on Tuesday night showed Owensboro with a 75% chance of receiving at least 1 inch of snow on Friday, a 56% chance of at least 2 inches, and a 15% chance of at least 4 inches.
Precipitation will remain as snow, with no sleet or freezing rain anticipated.
