The Owensboro Health Wound Center has once again received the prestigious Center of Distinction award from Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.

This marks at least the fifth consecutive year the center has earned the recognition, which honors outstanding clinical outcomes over a 12-month period. The award criteria include a patient satisfaction rate above 92% and exceptional healing rates.

“This achievement is based on the collective efforts of our skilled nurses, front office staff, providers, and the commitment of our patients,” said Dr. Jeffrey Danetz, Chief Medical Officer of the Wound Center. “We pride ourselves in treating the whole patient — not just the hole in the patient. That approach has made a real difference in the lives of the people we serve.”

The Wound Center is part of the Healogics network of more than 600 Wound Care Centers across the country. Locally, the team treats a variety of chronic and non-healing wounds — including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure injuries, and infections — using advanced therapies such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy and bio-engineered tissue treatments.

“This award is a reflection of our people,” said Dana Wilson, newly appointed director of the center. “We meet patients at some of their hardest moments and we walk with them every step of the way. Our team doesn’t just heal wounds — we help restore quality of life.”
