A 38-year-old Owensboro woman has been charged with trafficking meth and fentanyl near two schools, according to the Kentucky State Police.

According to a release, the KSP Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations (DESI) Branch, KSP Post 16, KSP K-9 Branch, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson Police Department, and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of Woodbridge Trail in Owensboro regarding the incident. Court records show the warrant was executed just before noon on August 28.

Authorities said that during the search, methamphetamine and fentanyl were recovered, along with a handgun. Jennifer D. Curtis was charged with trafficking in meth (more than 2 grams), trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking within 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

While the release did not identify the schools, the address is near Maximilian Montessori Academy and Daviess County High School. In Kentucky, the 1,000-foot zone is measured by a straight line, not distance along roadways.

Curtis is currently on supervised probation for previous drug charges and was lodged in Daviess County Detention Center, according to KSP.

Court records show Curtis was scheduled to be arraigned on August 29.
